Iron & Wine

Where does the name come from, you're going to ask? Well, Sam Beam came across a dietary supplement called "Beef Iron & Wine" in a store and decided to take the name.

Iron & Wine's singing career really began in 2002, when he signed with Sub-pop Records, after he gave a demo to a friend who was none other than the brother of Band of Horses' lead singer.

He writes and composes a lot, releasing an album or an EP every year from 2002 on to 2009. This bearded troubadour also contributed a lot to films or TV shows such as The Lone Ranger, The O.C., Grey's Anatomy, the L Word, Misfits, numb3rs, 90210, Ugly Betty and so on.

I really like his music because it has various influences. Sometimes it will be more folk, other times country or even a little bit jazzy. Perhaps this stems from the many instruments he uses: guitar, slide guitar, electric guitar, banjo,... There are also very different textures from one song to another and that's what makes his albums intersting.

You should definetely check out these songs: "Naked as We Came", "Tree by the River", "Flightless Bird, American Mouth", "The Waves of Galveston" or "Such Great Heights". Of course there are loads of songs I could recommend but then, there wouldn't be enough space to write them all down.
